The Come Home Year Schedule is finally completed. Students will be delivering the schedules door to door next week.
The Come Home Year Committe would like to Welcome everyone home for the second Come Home Year. We hope everyone participates in the
events and as a safe and rememberable Come Home Year.

Public Notice
The Come Home Year Committee would like to advise residents of Burnt Islands to take pride in their community and clean up around their property.
(ex. painting, clean up trash, etc...)
Cellular Service
The cost to connect a community to cellular service is $500,000. Therefore, due to the price and lack of demand, there are no further plans to expand cellular service in Burnt Islands.
Temporary Maintence Man Position
The Town Council of Burnt Islands is accepting resumes for the temporary maintenance man position. Some duties include operating loader, repairing water lines, maintaining water and sewer system.
R/O System
The R/O System equipment has arrived. The Town expects it to be up and running the first week of July.
Radio Station 104.7 FM
During the week of the Come Home Year Celebrations, the Sharing Our Future Team will be hosting a live radio broadcast. The radio station will be sat up at the Town Hall Board Room and take place Monday July 18 to Friday July 22, from 12-2pm.
So be sure to tune in!!
In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbours listen.
Permanent Casual Labor Position
The Town Council is also accepting resumes for a permanent casual labor position. Applicant needs to have a drivers license and capable of driving a standard.
Resumes may be dropped off at the Town Office.

Hook and Line Interpretation Centre
The workers have been hired for the Hook and Line Interpretation Centre. They began work on Monday July 20, 2005. The workers hired are:

The coffee/craft shop and Museum will be open Monday - Sunday, 9:00am - 9:00pm. However, there is a $2.00 fee to view the museum.

Roads Work
As you are aware, the Town has $40,000 for roads work. Due to numerous copper pipes running from Allan Keepings to the Parking Lot, phase one will be postponed until next year. The Town has decided that the best location to pave would be Causeway Extension to Plant Road, (phase three) and depending on the price of asphalt, phase two (High Street) may also be paved.
The fact is on average, about 1,643 earthquakes occur on the planet every day, which is about 600,000 every year!
Student Employment
There are more student jobs left to come. Hopfully, by the weekend students will be notified and begin work on July 4, 2005.
Canada Day Celebrations
The Canada Day Celebrations will be held on Friday, July 1st, at the ballfield. Weather permitting. Come along and enjoy a fun day!!
Here is a picture of Ms. Josie Keeping on June 20th, 2005, working at Eric Kings Fish Plant. The plant workers are processing red fish, hake, and halibut. The cod fishery is scheduled to open July 11, 2005.
